National Endowment for the arts (NEA) to help fund research into the therapeutic benefits of the potential of the art “in the treatment of diseases or disorders or for improving the symptoms of a disease disorder or chronic ill health”. And also working with the Ministry of defense on a study to determine whether the reality of the use of the members of the section masks of white plaster that would help in the diagnosis and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. Preliminary results indicate that the masks provide clues to the psychological state of the members or veterans in the service of the reported symptoms because of the social stigma.
Another study conducted by Drexel University in Philadelphia, gives hopes that art therapy can have physiological benefits. The researchers decided that the 45 minutes spent in arts projects “have led to a significant reduction in the levels of cortisol” known as the stress hormone measured in saliva samples before and after the experiment by the participants.
The area that members have started Research Association psychology of Aesthetics Creativity and the arts, is a unit of the American Psychological Association that was established in the year 1945, with the number of members is increasing over the years and today around 500.
Second organization that encourages a similar survey, the International Association of experimental assembly includes not only psychologists, but of philosophers and social scientists, and neuroscientists. Each group publishes a research journal each of the will hold conventions in August.
